I love October. It’s the fall colors, Halloween, and most of all, soup! It sounds weird, but when it cools down enough to make soup, I know that I can get into the spirit of fall. October brings a sense of comfort, of being warm and snug under a blanket with a good book. Likewise, I hope that our Religious Education offerings for October bring you a sense of comfort, a place that feels like a warm hug!
In September, we had a blast with our first CartUUns class and we will be continuing with the curriculum into the coming months. On October 13 at 5 PM, come join us as we watch Sanjay’s Super Team and discuss how it relates to a deep reverence that UUs hold for all life. We will also create our own super teams, so bring paper, something to draw with, and your imaginations!
Our Game Day is also continuing into October. Come to the Sunday Service link at 1 pm on October 24 to play Uno! You can play online (similarly to Yahtzee) or if you have your own deck and want to play with those in your house while on Zoom, you can do that too. I’m looking forward to the shouts of “Uno!” in the future!
Something spooky and special for October is our Nightmare Before Christmas themed service on Halloween. Join us the day before, October 30, on the Church Zoom for a viewing of the movie at 5 pm. On October 31, join us at 10 AM for a costume party and participate in our annual Trick or Treat for UNICEF. Be on the lookout for children and youth worship assistants during this special service!
Be sure to check out our second issue of The Spark for new stories, activities, and connections to worship. It drops on October 1.
