Family Promise Update from Phebe

Good afternoon,

It's been a while since our last update. I pray that all of you are doing well. The holidays are upon us...and the need is even greater this year as so many households were impacted by COVID-19. Although we have not had families in the overnight program since the end of April, we have been busy with community families as well as former families impacted by COVID-19. Our efforts have slightly moved to a homelessness prevention mode these last few months.

Family Promise was awarded a $52,500 grant from the City of Bryan to assist families with rent, food and utilities (specifically gas, not electricity). Families who live in Bryan  are eligible to apply for rental assistance if they have lost their job or hours have been reduced due to COVID-19. The grant  requires that we serve 51%  low and moderate income families, but 49% can be over income if they have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. If you know of families who may qualify, please have them contact us at 979-268-4309 or familypromiebcs@gmail.com

Attached is a list of other organizations in the B-CS community that received CARES funding for families who may live in College Station or other parts of the Brazos Valley. Feel free to share the info with those impacted by COVID-19.

Center updates... We are open for business, but have not had a family in need of the overnight program since the Chapa Family moved out in April. We are already set up for families to social distance, but not for children to attend school online without parental supervision. Any and all ideas are welcomed as we could get the call for a family in need any day now. The rotation schedule is attached as a reminder...and to be on standby for you week as we work towards hosting a family again.  Brazos UU - Dec. 13th - Dec. 20th, 2020. I will share again after Thanksgiving. Take care and stay tuned... PMS
