"Church is a place where you get to practice what it means to be human," James Luther Adams.
Husband, Father, Photographer, Greeting Card Creator, Musician, Web Developer, Master of Zoom, and self-proclaimed Space Nerd. These are a few of my favorite things when I think of John Metal Faber. John has generously shared his many talents with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Brazos Valley since he joined a few years ago. One of his early contributions was to design Everyday Cards as a fundraiser to benefit the church. The cards featured exclusive original designs and photographs. The unique UU cards showcased the creative inner artist few of us knew existed. As a board member from 2018-2019, John quickly began updating and redesigning the UUCBV website where his talent for graphic design and layout is illustrated. His prophetic insight into the digital, cyber future is a major contribution to the way we do “church” today. John has taken the footprint of this congregation and launched it into global capabilities. We now have cyber “visitors” who attend Sunday Services, Zoom business meetings and even Zoom coffee hours. Behind the scenes, John spearheaded the project to upload administrative church files so they can be accessed with ease. The 21st century is here, and John is primarily responsible for the UUCBV arriving on time.
